My visit: June 2025.

What was it?
Northumbria University third year Graphic Design Degree Show.
Why it mattered to me?
I enjoy discovering new designers and celebrating their work.
My takeaway:
Beautiful engaging display of work in the Squires workshop at Northumbria University.
My favourite stand out works were by:
- Chloe Arthington
Beautiful illustrations and printed publication with fun colour palette. Enjoyed the size and format of the publication, the A to Z style is reminiscent of a children’s book but with a more thoughtful tone of voice and polished visuals. Illustrative type designs were effective, playful and smart in its story telling. - Ellie Appleyard
Incredible book binding and design. The craft of the book was so beautifully considered with a heat sensitive cover and debossed title all of which added to the tactileness of it. The content was emotive and the book felt quite precious emphasising the honest storytelling. The editorial design and physicality of the book were a really beautiful reflection of the content. - Victoria Ellen Tajuni
Loved the ‘Holy Hake’ brand identity and how the illustrations/patterns translate effectively across different media (packaging, digital and print) . I picked up a postcard print (i think it is screenprinted!) and it’s stunning, the typography and colours have a fun playful energy to it. - Laura Watson
Use of typography is really strong and striking. There is a really beautiful balance in the compositions in colour, scale and text! - Clarissa Santoso
I enjoyed the ‘LIT’ UP’ branding project it was cohesive across the app and print. The use of the book spine as a central motif was strong across digital and the printed bookmarks. The identity mirrored the brand really well with both classic and contemporary visuals. - Iris Binnington
Nice bold handwritten type and striking sequence of photographs. This project looked really effective as a whole display.
Vibe:
Beautiful printed graphics, the publications were my favourite and as ever I love a fun colour palette. My photos are not the best so I have linked each image to the designers LinkedIn!
